Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits
The Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits (OKCNP) serves to strengthen the nonprofit sector in Oklahoma through training, advocacy, and networking. Today, they have over 1,000 members across the state and host more than 250 training sessions every year focused on best practices for nonprofit management, governance, and legal compliance. As OKCNP had outgrown their Oklahoma City facility, the organization purchased the former 31,000-square-foot Red Cross building at NE 6th Street and Lincoln Boulevard with the intent to renovate it into their new headquarters. MetaFund in combination with financing from BanFirst provided OKCNP $10 million of New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) allocation to support their renovation.
While the renovated facility will serve as OKCNP offices, more than 60 percent of the building will be open for nonprofit use. Nonprofits will have access to videoconferencing and conference rooms, community workstations, training rooms, and event space. The facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology allowing for remote interaction with organizations across the state.
With the acquisition of the new, larger headquarters, OKCNP anticipates a 10 percent annual expansion in in-person training sessions, accommodating an additional 280 participants initially, with room for substantial future growth. The organization is also investing in advanced technology equipment to extend virtual training sessions, ensuring broader accessibility for participants in rural areas.
